Environmental Standards for a Home

Vicky asks

We wish to apply for a green home loan with Bendigo Bank and need to know if our existing home complies with the minimum environmental standard required in our state Western Australia. I tried to search for this online but couldn’t work it out.

Our expert’s answer

Vicky,

Thanks for your enquiry. The standards change on a regular basis…

This is a good/bad thing in that since the standards are improving. This means that consumers:

  • will get a better end-product provided the standards are complied with 🙂
  • there is the possibility that builders may not comply… 🙁

This site provides information for people in WA.

The WA Building Commission can also be contacted on: 1300 48 90 99

I hope this helps with your enquiry.

The impacts of specific energy or water saving or sustainability products will depend on how and where the are used and located, and particularly for larger investments, we would always suggest users seek a specific assessment from an appropriately qualified building designer or service / product supplier.
