In order to best understand how to make a comfortable home, it is first important to understand the environment the home is in. We do this by catagorising our home into a climate zone. The Bureau of Meterology, NatHERS and other organisations have identified up to 69 different climate zones within Australia.
For our purposes we’ve separated most of Australia into 3 climate zones.
- Heating climate: Most of your energy is used to heat your house
- Cooling climate: Most of your energy is used to cool your house
- Mixed climate: Your energy is used relatively evenly to heat and cool your house
Knowledge about the "bigger picture" climate patterns assists in purchasing, living in and renovating your home to better respond to climate trends.
